Still shrouded in mystery till today, but of course our archaeologists have it all worked out (nope) i very much doubt their theory i do however believe there used to be a lush forest on these islands at one point which were eradicated to build these messages to the gods, there has been many land-slides since the creation of these monuments so there are actually some (many) lying at the bottom of the sea down there which the coral have turned into reefs which makes it the perfect place for divers, they can get really up close and personal and away from the tourists while checking out the coral life at the same time. Must be amazing adventure to take part in

Easter Island Aerial view, it's so remote that we had to zoom out to show you just how remote it is with nothing from thousands of miles around but Ocean from mid Chile to far away New Zealand which makes it even peculiar, who were these people and why did they chop down their only life support environment full of rare endangered species to build these specimens called Moai
It’s famed for archaeological sites, including nearly 900 monumental statues called moai, created by inhabitants during the 13th–16th centuries. The moai are carved human figures with oversize heads, often resting on massive stone pedestals called ahus. Ahu Tongariki has the largest group of upright moai.
