You can still have a good alp trek though if you can over-come annoyances like ski-lifts 2 miles down the trek, but hey some people dig technology. This is the Swiss alps after-all, going through the alps without seeing a ski-resort would be like holidaying in Scotland without seeing a golf course

As what to expect from the Swiss alps, surrounded on all borders by mountainous peaks, surrounded on all fronts by rich foreign tourists after the cross from the Italian alps, this would be an interesting way to leave Italy hiking from the hotel through to Switzerland, that giant cliff peak on the horizon however, you can get reasonably higher and closer to it, happy trekking
