For its fifteenth 2019 anniversary, Tomorrowland returned to "The Book of Wisdom" as its mainstage theme, previously used in 2012. 

In many cultures, fifteen signifies the end of adolescence, when innocence is traded for a new level of respect and trust from your peers. The same can be said of the fifteenth edition of Tomorrowland.

The festival took place on 19–21 and 26–28 July, and saw regular performers such as The Chainsmokers, Armin van Buuren, KSHMR and David Guetta return.

Many of Brussels Airlines’ festival-centric “party flights” have live DJ sets while in air.

Spanning two weekends to meet the high demand for tickets, Tomorrowland is a global-trendsetting sonic experience that encompasses all genres, styles and sub-styles of electronic music, and attracts some 400,000 ravers to the small town of Boom every summer.

For 2019, Tomorrowland returned to its 2012 theme, The Book Of Wisdom. This year the fairytale-like bookcase (a stunning set of giant books placed both horizontally and vertically, which opened and closed with integrated LED screens) was the basis of the backdrop used to create mosaic artwork by recycling works from past 15 years.

Non-EDM artists like Bebe Rexha and ASAP Rocky were also on the lineup, however, the latter had to cancel his appearance following his arrest in Sweden.

People from over 200 countries flocked here to witness the landmark event, united by their love of music.

The three-hour DayBreak Session belonged to the one-and-only Carl Cox, who transported SPACE from Ibiza to Boom, and it was not long before the entire crowd was set on fire with massive hits such as Space Date by Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani & Green Velvet.

Supergroup Swedish House Mafia were rumoured to close the event following Steve Angello's claim in the autumn of the previous year that the group would play at the festival "by any means necessary".

However, the "three dots" were announced last minute to be 3 Are Legend, leading many to believe that the group pulled out last minute. Axwell and Steve Angello claimed that the group were never booked for the festival.

Rumours became even stronger when the group's signature "three dots" appeared on the Tomorrowland lineup.

On Saturday, incredible performances were delivered by Paula Temple (playing relentless techno on the stage hosted by Russian techno goddess Nina Kraviz), Oscar & The Wolf (playing live on their own stage at Lotus), and Tales of Us, who were hosting their own Afterlife stage for the very first time at a festival and showed off their deeply moving, emotional sound.

The “pages” displayed during this ceremony are a gargantuan scale-up of the 150-page Book of Wisdom, a fictional story sent to ticket buyers based on the motifs of the festival such as fairies and dragonflies.

 It is a story that the Irish woman, named Sarah, herself worked on as a contractor for the event, and we tear up as she watches her words come to life in front of tens of thousands of people on a structure topping out at 433 feet - 73 feet longer than a standard football field.

 Over a thousand artists played this year. While some, like Armin Van Buuren, Coone, and Zany, played the very first and second editions of the festival, Tomorrowland has evolved far beyond its trance and hardstyle roots, this year welcoming international acts like J Balvin and Lil Kleine as the scope of the genre itself becomes broader.
