Dining by the campfire
After a ride through the Norwegian tundra we’ll provide you with a hearty meal of Bidos, prepared with reindeer meat, broth and vegtables. We will serve the meal in our camp around the fire (vegetarian meal available upon request) in our traditional Gamme.

There are many huskies, of various sizes and ages, at the centre. With them are people who give the dogs everything they need, including the joy of running long distances. The founder of the wilderness centre, Tove Sørensen, has over 30 years dog sledding experience, and she has also been a pioneer of dog sledding at a competitive level.

You do not need any previous skills to mush your own husky team. All you need is reasonable physical health and an eagerness to try something new. For this tour you will be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from which you will be taken to our wilderness center in Camp Tamok (approx. ~75min drive).

Upon arrival at the camp, you will be provided with warm winter clothing and given thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration from our lovely English-speaking guides. Once you are ready, you will embark on your journey.

Two people will share each sled and a dog team. One is the “musher” (driver) and the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. If your group includes children, please kindly note, that each child must be accompanied by an adult.

You can switch places midway during the 12 km dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, we will spend approx. 1 hr 30 min to complete the dog sledding route.

After the dog sledding adventure, you will be served a hot meal in a traditional northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent.
