A series of tests that are performed to recreate accidents at around 40 km / h in which adults and children are involved as pedestrians. Protection is better if the leg is hit low, away from the knees and the force is distributed over the longer leg length. It is very difficult to assess pedestrian protection using a dummy. It is possible to control the place of impact of the bumper on the pedestrian's legs, but not the place of impact of the dummy's head. Separate tests are performed to solve this problem. The leg test includes protection of the lower leg by the bumper, and the upper leg by the bonnet edge and the adult's and child's head by the mask surface.
